Day Student Life

Boarding and day. Artists and athletes. Local, national, and international hometowns. In these ways, and so many more, the Lawrence Academy community is a diverse one.

Lawrence Academy day students leave campus at night and over the weekends, but they are encouraged to participate fully in the residential LA experience (until it’s time to go to bed, that is!). All weekend activities — shopping shuttles, group trips to local attractions, and on-campus events — for boarders are open to day students as well; during the school week, day students are welcome to stay on campus until curfew, for study hours and extracurricular events.

While they are on campus, LA day students can take advantage of the various spots to study or relax and hang out with friends and classmates. They are welcome in the dining hall for every meal, and are encouraged to show family members and friends around campus in their free time.

Day Student Bus Schedule

In an effort to help Day Students from neighboring communities attend Lawrence Academy, the school arranges bus routes with stops convenient for many families.

Below is current information about bus stops for the 2023-2024 school year. Both bus lines arrive on campus at approximately 7:45 a.m. On Thursdays, the morning pick-up time and arrival to campus is delayed by one hour to accommodate the weekly sleep-in period. The academic day starts at 8:15 a.m. Return departure from Lawrence Academy in the fall, winter and spring is 6:30 PM. Buses leave from behind the dining hall. Students who are not able to catch their evening bus due to an away game, late practice, or other school commitment must arrange for their transportation that evening; bus service is not adjusted to accommodate late practices or games.

Please note: Lawrence Academy reserves the right to alter or remove bus routes dependent on demand for these services. Exact costs for this service will be determined by ridership and released by the Dean of Students in the summer prior to the start of the school year.
