Exeter, NH -- On August 17th, LA Director of Music Jenny Cooper visited Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire with other choral music educators to discuss programs and curriculums at each school.
Other institutions represented at the meeting included St. Mark's, Hotchkiss, Groton, St. Paul's, Loomis, Choate, Northfield Mount Hermon, Exeter, Westminster, and Andover.
Along with discussing pedagogy at different schools, the group also discussed possible future collaborations.
Mrs. Cooper, a choral intern at Phillips Exeter Academy in 2008-2009, said she had looked forward to visiting the campus again. After the meeting, she was hopeful for the future, explaining, “It was so exciting to be part of something like this.
"A meeting of top level choral directors in boarding schools hasn’t happened in over 25 years, and the 12 of us are working to make it into so much more as we move forward with collaborations, commissions of new work, and professional development opportunities.”
