Affording Lawrence Academy

Lawrence Academy commits to ensuring access to independent education by bridging the gap between family resources and educational expenses. For the 2020 - 2021 school year, 32 percent of our students received need-based financial grants and we distributed $5 million in need-based financial assistance to 127 families in our school community.

In the admissions decision process, Lawrence Academy will offer space only to those students we can financially assist. If we are unable to provide financial assistance to an admissible student, that student will be placed in the waiting pool.

FAQ About Financial Aid...

Frequently asked questions about the admissions process...

1.) What is financial aid?

Financial aid is funding formulated on the basis of need and intended to decrease tuition costs for education. All students who receive financial aid are awarded due to demonstrated need according to School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS).

2.) Who is eligible to apply for financial aid?

Anyone may apply for financial aid. For the 2020-2021 academic year, 32 percent of our students received need-based financial grants, and we distributed $5 million in need-based financial assistance to 127 families in our school community.

3.) How do I apply for financial aid?

Please begin the financial aid process by accessing Parent Financial Statement.

4.) It’s my first time filling out a PFS, who can I speak to for clarification?

If you have any questions as you complete the PFS, please contact SSS customer service at (800) 344-8328. You may also review The SSS Family Guide to Financial Aid.

5.) Does Lawrence Academy offer scholarships?

No. We do not offer academic merit or athletic scholarships. All financial aid is awarded due to demonstrated need.

6.) Will applying for financial aid affect my child’s chances for admission?

Lawrence Academy will offer space only to those students we can financially assist. If we are unable to offer financial assistance to an admissible student, that student will be placed in the wait pool until funds and space become available.

7.) What happens if we are late to submit the financial aid application?

For new families, if you are unable to meet the Jan. 31, 2021 deadline, please contact the director of financial aid at (978) 448-1527. As the Financial Aid Committee at Lawrence Academy will be evaluating aid requests in early February, it is imperative that families submit all requested paperwork according to the deadlines.

8.) How are financial aid decisions made?

The Financial Aid Committee utilizes the information provided by SSS as a guideline in determining financial aid awards. While LA has a robust financial aid program, the budget limits our ability to meet every family’s level of need. Admissible candidates whom we cannot fund will be placed in our wait pool.

9.) If my child is admitted but not awarded aid, might we receive aid the following year?

Lawrence Academy expects families who don’t receive financial aid upon initial enrollment to continue to pay tuition in full. There is little chance that a student enrolling without aid would be awarded aid in any subsequent year, without significant changes in that family’s financial circumstances.

10.) Must I reapply for aid next year?

Families are required to reapply for financial aid each year by submitting the PFS and current year’s tax return.

11.) What payment plans are available?

Two Payments: Due July 1 & October 1
Monthly Payment Plan: Nine monthly payments beginning May 1

12.) What is the policy for divorced, separated, or never married parents?

We request that both natural parents complete the PFS and submit completed tax forms to SSS.

13.) What if one or both parents are self-employed or own a business?

It is required that families who own farms or businesses complete the PFS and include all necessary documents in addition to the tax return.

14.) Is financial aid available for International Candidates?

There is limited funding available for applicants who are not American citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States.
