Athletic Training
Lawrence Academy students are encouraged to prepare properly for participation in the athletic program and educational materials and guidance are provided to students in the LA athletic program. The primary objective is to establish an athletic health care program where communication among athletes, parents, coaches, and treating physicians is clear and directed towards the best interests of the student-athlete.
The Athletic Training Room is a health care facility where athletes receive treatment, care, preventive assistance, and rehabilitation. The athletic trainer is responsible for providing health care services designed to prevent injury and maintain the athlete's ability to compete at the highest level.
The Policies and Procedures Guideline for Athletic Medical Care provides a protocol for the athletic trainer to perform those tasks and functions that fall within the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for Lawrence Academy students during the academic year. Licensed/certified athletic trainers follow these procedures under the direction of the State of Massachusetts rules and regulations pertaining to athletic trainers. A copy of these regulations is available in the Athletic Training Room.
