Application Process For International Students

Thank you for your interest in applying to Lawrence Academy! If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to call us at (978) 448-1530 or email the Admissions Office.

1. Inquire

Complete and submit the online inquiry form.

2. Tour & Interview

Come visit Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA to better acquaint yourself with our school and community. Our campus is open in the summer, fall, and winter for prospective families. Schedule a campus tour and interview.

3. Register for Testing (SSAT or TOEFL)

All International Applicants are required to take the SSAT or TOEFL exam.

Register online for the October, November, December, or January SSAT by visiting www.ssat.org. Information may be obtained on their website for test center locations, specified test dates, and additional information regarding the standardized test. For more information, you can call SSAT at (609) 683-4440. Our SSAT score reporting code is 4552.

Register for the TOEFL by visiting www.toefl.org. Lawrence Academy’s TOEFL score reporting code is 8021.

Please note: The SLEP test is not accepted by Lawrence Academy

4. Apply

Gateway to Prep SchoolsApplication deadline is January 15 for all candidates. A completed application requires the submission of the following items:

  • Candidate Profile
  • Essays
  • Current English Teacher Recommendation
  • Current Math Teacher Recommendation
  • Guidance Counselor/Principal Recommendation
  • School Transcript – Current & Previous Academic Year

SAOAdditionally, any supplemental letters of recommendation may be uploaded directly to the candidate's profile (there is no standardized format).

Ready to take one step closer to becoming a Spartan? Begin our application now! Lawrence Academy accepts two applications: the Standard Application Online (SAO) or the Gateway to Prep School Application. You are only required to complete one of these applications, and we do not prefer one over the other.

5. Admission Decisions

Admission decisions will be posted on March 10.

6. Revisit & Enroll

Lawrence Academy will host Revisit Days for accepted students on April 5 and April 9. Your signed reservation agreement and tuition deposit are due by Wednesday, April 10.

Is an interview required?

No. Interviews are not always required. Applicants will be contacted by the admissions office if an interview is needed. Lawrence Academy encourages on campus visits by applicants.

Is the SLEP test accepted?

No. Lawrence Academy only accepts the SSAT or TOEFL.

When is the application deadline?

January 15.

Does Lawrence Academy offer Spring Enrollment?

No.

May students attend for a partial year?

No. Lawrence Academy expects all students to attend for a full academic year.

Does Lawrence Academy provide financial aid to International Students?

Financial Aid is limited for International Students.

Does Lawrence Academy issue the I-20s?

Yes, once a student has applied, been admitted, and enroll at Lawrence Academy. The family must also provide Lawrence Academy with financial certification and proof of the applicant’s citizenship before an I-20 is mailed.
