Dear Alumni & Friends:

At a recent admissions open house in Bedford, New Hampshire, our students spoke with prospective families, and as usual -- without having been told what to say -- they demonstrated how they are living the mission by telling authentic stories of their own experiences.

Listening to kids speak from the heart about what they know and what they are learning is our great reward here at LA. On Parents’ Weekend (click for photos), my advisee, Subin Kim '17 (click for video), spoke to parents, students, and faculty quoting the mission, and explaining how at LA she realizes that she has always been recognized for who she is and inspired to take responsibility for who she wants to become by getting involved in her academics, in sports, and in extra-curricular activities and emerging as a leader. This year's Admissions Video (click to launch) will also help you understand my point.

While fall term is busy, its pace and intensity invigorate us. We might be gasping for air and astonished we are almost done, but we are proud of our work together and already beginning to celebrate end-of-term performances in arts and athletics, with exams just a week away. Looking ahead, students are signing up for this year’s selections of faculty-designed Winterim courses (click to see this year's catalog) for the 47th time (since Winterim got started in 1971), and we are full-on into admissions season with our on-campus Open House this weekend.

We hope any of you who are nearby will swing up the new entryway and drop in for a visit to see our faculty and students in action, doing the good and constant work of learning.

From the hillside,

Rob Moore
