Chris Margraf
Head CoachChris Margraf P '24 joined Lawrence Academy in 1997 and is the Assistant Director of College Counseling, a math teacher, and the head varsity baseball coach. Chris has a BS in economics (with a math minor) from Bowdoin College and an MA in private school leadership from the Klingenstein Program at the Teachers College at Columbia University. Chris' favorite thing about working at LA is that he can make a tangible difference in adolescents' lives and the idea of reciprocity: that students give back to him as much as he gives to them. He lives on campus with his wife, Libby, two daughters, and two black labs, Blue and Kinley. Chris enjoys fly and ocean fishing, golfing, playing men's league hockey, drawing, and spending time outdoors. -
Logan Gillis
Assistant CoachLogan Gillis '09 began working at LA in 2019 and is a math teacher, dorm head, and a varsity baseball assistant coach. He has a BS in marketing from Bentley University. At LA, Logan appreciates the chance he has to give back to a community and home that gave so much to him when he was a student. He lives on campus with his wife Sara, son, and dog, Bo Jackson Gillis. Outside of work, Logan enjoys golfing and hanging out with family and friends on the lake. -
Robert Barker
Assistant CoachRobbie Barker '00 began working at LA in 2012 and is the boys' varsity hockey head coach and an English teacher. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and lives on campus near the rink with his wife Marcelle, sons, Brady and Tristan, and yellow lab Winnie Cooper. His favorite thing about working at LA is doubling his rate of personal development. (As they say, the best way to learn something is to teach it.) Robbie enjoys fishing and Whiffle ball and is a LEGO master.

Lawrence Academy competes in the 16-team Independent School League (ISL), which consists of selective college preparatory schools in and around the greater Boston area from as far north as Byfield, Mass., and as far south as Newport, R.I. All ISL schools are members of NEPSAC, the New England Private School Athletic Council, which governs all interscholastic play for independent schools in the Northeast.
