Molly Purcell
Head CoachMolly Purcell joined the Lawrence Academy community in 2001. She is a member of the history department faculty, a dorm parent, and coaches varsity field hockey and varsity girls’ lacrosse. Molly, who graduated from Milton Academy, received her BA in architectural studies from Mount Holyoke College and is working toward her MAT in teacher leadership, also from Mount Holyoke. Before LA, Molly was a teacher in the history department at Cheshire Academy, the health and wellness curriculum coordinator, lead junior class advisor, a coach, and a dorm parent. Molly is an avid runner, hiker, and fisher, and loves to read. -
Mia Ritter
Assistant CoachMia Ritter began working at LA in 2018 and is the Assistant Director of College Counseling, varsity skiing coach, and varsity girls' lacrosse coach. She has a BA in sociology from Grinnell College and an EdM in Prevention, Science and Practice: Adolescent Counseling from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mia appreciates that at LA the student and faculty interactions are personal and caring and allow community members to connect on a deeper level than just as teachers and students. She lives in Sheedy with two cats, Simon and Louie. Mia loves outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, canoeing, swimming, and kayaking. She enjoys getting to know LA students beyond the classroom through Winterim, dorm duty, and school-wide activities. -
Forrest Stillwell
Assistant CoachForrest Stillwell joined the LA community in 2021. He teaches human geography and American history and is the assistant girls’ lacrosse coach and the fishing club sponsor. Forrest has a BA in political science from Auburn University and an MEd from UMass Lowell. His favorite thing about LA is that the school is committed to living its mission and working on the complete person. Forrest lives in Norwood with his spouse Shannon, sons, Sawyer and Sutton, and a red lab named Finn. Forrest is an avid fly fisherman and griller and he loves live music and sports. He was a D1 college lacrosse coach for 10 years. Fun fact: Forrest was a professional cowboy for two summers!

Lawrence Academy competes in the 16-team Independent School League (ISL), which consists of selective college preparatory schools in and around the greater Boston area from as far north as Byfield, Mass., and as far south as Newport, R.I. All ISL schools are members of NEPSAC, the New England Private School Athletic Council, which governs all interscholastic play for independent schools in the Northeast.
