The creative works of Lawrence Academy’s theatre program embody the school’s student-centered mission.

Guided by Director of Theatre Dennis Canty, students have opportunities throughout the theatre: onstage, behind the scenes, and directing. 

Students are encouraged to explore theatre through both academic courses —in acting, improvisation, and more — and as sport in a main stage production. Theatre productions offer chances to perform in a play or musical, direct, and design the technical components of the production. In the spring, all students are invited to audition for student-directed One Acts. Theatre at Lawrence Academy is highly collaborative. 

"The thing about the One Acts is their student directed. So it's a kind of, we're all in this together, kind of atmosphere. Everybody for that moment was so invested in what they were doing because they held that silent confidence in themselves that we were together."
