Reminder: Day Student Bus

Due to a conflict with the Alcott House, Lawrence Academy will no longer be able to use their parking lot for pick-up on the AM Concord route. Effective Monday, April 25th all students that board at the Alcott House will now be picked up at the Concord Public Library (129 Main Street).

To see them: on the Parent Portal homepage, scroll all the way down the page to "My Children" and click on the "Links" tab.
There, click the link for "Teacher Comments."

Cum Laude Day

Lawrence Academy’s Cum Laude Day ceremony is on Monday, April 25, 12:30-1:30 PM. The ceremony will include student inductions into the Cum Laude Society, along with departmental book awards for academic excellence and effort. Additionally, LA will give the Greater Good Award to an alum of Lawrence Academy.

From Mr. Healy: Monday’s celebration of Cum Laude Day is a dress-up occasion for all students. As outlined in the Student Handbook, “For special occasions, the following dress is required: Dresses, dress slacks, skirts, appropriate tops, jackets, collared shirts, ties, or turtlenecks.” Thank you.

2022 Yearbook

Time to order!

Order a yearbook online by May 1st to ensure your student gets one. Yearbooks will be given out on campus in late May. There will be a limited number of yearbooks for sale on campus, so place your order now. LA's school number is: 13014.

Art in Conant Gallery

The work of Marilene Sawaf
 
Lawrence Academy is pleased to welcome the work of artist Marilene Sawaf and her exhibit, “Past Life Reflections.”
 
The exhibit opened on April 8th, 2022, and remains open to the public. See you there!
 
LA’s Conant Gallery is open Monday-Friday 9 AM-4 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 12 PMpm-4 PM.

The event will be hosted on campus on the McDonald Library Terrace on May 7th at 6:30 PM.

2022 Senior Prom

Additional details will be forthcoming later in the term. ALL Seniors are invited and encouraged to attend prom at Gibbet Hill Barn with or without a guest – your tickets are covered by LA!  This is your final event together as a class. Do not miss it!

Guests are allowed. They must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school and they will be required to complete a registration and school certification form. Guest tickets will be $125.

Community Service

Taking Action for the Greater Good

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Build – we raised enough to build 15 beds instead of our original goal of 10!! Thank you to the LA community for making that happen. Students can click here to sign-up for that or other CS options organized by LA.  Click here to view the February 2019 bed build.
The last Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry food drop off is the last weeks  of the school year. The final day for drop off is June 9, in the student lounge. Let’s make this collection the largest yet! Green Bags to fill are available from Mrs. Clark.
Remember: 2 bags = 1 hr.
Two hours max for food donations as CS hours
LA’s community service requirement is six hours per year, every year of attendance (Note: we do not accept summer hours to satisfy our small 6-hour requirement) Students should ask their advisors to look up what we have on file for their community service.
Walk for Hunger
 
Walk for Hunger 2022 – Help us support Project Bread which supports our local food pantries and food/meal programs in the state of MA. Our team goal is $1,000! It is a virtual event this year with no 20-mile walk in Boston.  Student leaders in the Rise Against Hunger Club are planning a 5 mile walk on campus and around Groton. Team members need to fundraise a minimum of $10 and walk with the team on Sunday 5/1 from 12:00-2:00 to receive 2 hours of CS.

Reminder for Seniors

Seniors – On May 9th – the day off from classes – those that still owe service hours and/or have not made a plan, will be participating in a service project. All Spring CS Options are listed on the sign-up page. Sign-up for the LA sponsored weekend CS projects or send Mrs. Poulin your plan for completing your CS hours. Seniors who have not completed their hours will need to complete them instead of participating in their senior class outings during senior week.

Winterim@50 Celebration

Our community-wide celebration of 50 years of Winterim will be held on Friday, June 10th. We've been waiting 50 years to mark the anniversary of the school's signature program that remains a critical element of the LA experience for all students. View Dan Scheibe's video invitation here!

Reminder: George Peabody Memorial

Please join us Sunday, May 8th, at Lawrence Academy to commemorate the life of former faculty member George Peabody. Starting at 10:30 AM, we will gather on the McDonald Library terrace to share memories of George as a father, grandfather, uncle, teacher, dorm master, coach, and friend. The library terrace is adjacent to the Quad in the center of campus, with a wonderful view of Gibbet Hill Farm, sports fields, and Peabody House.
