Welcome to Parents' Weekend  2012!

Dear Parents,

At Lawrence Academy we are strongly connected and strongly influenced by one another in the lives we lead and the activities we pursue. Parents’ Weekend provides an opportunity to come together in unity and clarity in support of the important, life-changing work we do together.

I am thus pleased to formally extend a warm personal invitation to Parents’ Weekend 2012 with the hopes that we will indeed be able to welcome you in person on a beautiful fall weekend in October. Here is what you can count on, weather aside, during
the weekend of October 19-20 (more detailed descriptions can be found in the brochure):
• the opportunity to meet in person with your child’s teachers
• informative sessions on the specific topics of academic life and the college process.
• the chance to see, in the studios and on the fields, the work-in-progress of our
talented artists and athletes
• a brief but full immersion into the pace and flow of life at LA

Aside from the formal rounds of meetings and events, it is my hope that you will leave the weekend with a strong sense of the identity and personality that enlivens our campus and enriches the experience of both students and adults on a daily basis.

The mechanics behind the school’s mission are specific (and of course primarily aimedat students), yet the spirit is broadly applicable—as much to a new head of school as to a parent whose visits to Parents’ Weekend might tally in the double digits: “Lawrence Academy recognizes you for who you are and inspires you to take responsibility for who you want to become.” Understanding the “you” in the mission to apply to the whole Lawrence Academy community, let us visibly embrace the good work of inspiration and responsibility together. We hope to see you at Parents’ Weekend!
