Learn with others to think for yourself.

Music

Jazz, classical, contemporary rock—you never know what you will hear coming out of the Williams Arts Center, day or night! Music courses at Lawrence Academy are designed to introduce students to the creative process of composing original music, but there are many students who come to Lawrence Academy with a solid foundation formed from years of study and practice.

Through the use of composition and recording software, and by learning some of the fundamentals of music notation, students may progress from introductory courses to Honors Composition and AP Music. The emphasis is always on helping students to develop musical compositions that are relevant to their lives and that let them express themselves through their music. In addition to the Williams Arts Center's recording studio being available, all music courses take advantage of the Music Technology Lab. There are additional opportunities for those students who wish to be involved in music performance, and teachers are made available for private instruction upon request.
