Score:3-1
Event Recap:

Lawrence Academy defeated Rivers School by a score of 3-1 on a beautiful afternoon in Weston, MA.

The game pitted LA’sWake Forest bound senior captain Max Tishman against Rivers’ Babson bound senior captain George Crowley. The two did not disappoint as each went the distance. In Max’s seven innings of work, he struck out eight and walked one while only surrendering four hits to earn his fifth victory of the season.

LA took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a two out solo homerun to deep left field by junior Nick Day. The Spartans added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by senior captain Kevin Wnukowski and a run in the seventh after junior Adam Carafotes doubled to right center to lead off the frame. Max took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh and held on for a 3-1 win.

Offensively, the Spartan bats were fairly quiet as George did a nice job of mixing his pitches throughout the game. Max, senior captain Brady Burns, Kevin, Nick and Adam had the only hits on the day for LA.

Defensively, the Spartans did a nice job of preventing a squeeze and Kevin threw a Rivers runner out at the plate hustling after a wild pitch.

This win brings LA’s record to 9-3 on the season. The team begins preparations for an away game against Nobles this Saturday beginning at 1PM.
