Varsity Baseball vs. Noble and Greenough School*
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away
Date: May 19, 2012
Result:Loss
Score:6-13
Event Recap:

Lawrence Academy fell to Nobles by a score of 13-6 on a summer-like Saturday afternoon in Dedham, MA.

Timely hitting by the Bull Dogs combined with some poor defense on the part of the Spartans carried the day. Junior Aubrey Solomon took the hill for LA. He pitched 3 1/3 innings before handing the ball to senior captain Brendan Mannion for 2 2/3 innings of work. Aubrey kept LA in the game, but the defense was unable to settle down and make plays and the Nobles’ bats responded to every mistake.

Offensively, the Spartans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Nobles responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame and they did not look back. Senior captain Brady Burns led the way with three hits (3 singles, RBI), while senior captain Max Tishman (2 singles, RBI), and junior Nick Day (double, single) each finished with two hits apiece.

The loss drops LA’s record to 9-4 on the season. The team looks to get back on the winning track this Monday at home against St. Paul’s beginning at 5PM.
