Lawrence Academy defeated Belmont Hill by a score of 5-1 on a cool, dreary day in Belmont, MA.

Senior captain Max Tishman pitched another gem in earning his third ISL victory of the season. In his seven innings of work, Max gave up just five hits while striking out eight and issuing no walks.

The Spartans scored four runs in the fourth inning on six hits to take a commanding 4-0 lead that Max would not relinquish. Three straight singles by junior Sean Mullaney, senior captain Brady Burns and junior Nick Day loaded the based for senior captain Brendan Mannion who scorched a single up the middle to score two. Senior captain Kevin Wnukowski then followed with a bases clearing double to right center field.

The Hillies scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. LA added an insurance run in the seventh on a two out double to right centerfield by Brady who scored junior Adam Carafotes.

Offensively, Brady, Brendan, Kevin and Adam led the way with two hits apiece. Brendan also turned in two outstanding plays at third base.

This victory brings LA’s ISL record to 6-2 on the season. The team begins preparations for their next game at Thayer Academy this Saturday beginning at 3:30PM.
