The Lawrence Academy Spartans improved their record to 2-1 on the young season with a 7-2 home victory over the Dragons from St. George’s.

Junior right hander Aubrey Solomon took the hill for LA. He pitched six solid innings giving up just one earned run on three hits while striking out six to earn his first win of the season. Senior captain Kevin Wnukowski earned the save striking out the side in the seventh.

Senior captain, Brady Burns, continued his torrid hitting with another three hits on the day. Junior Marcus Backlin’s two RBI single in the top of the sixth broke the game open giving LA a 5-2 lead that the team would not relinquish. Backlin finished with three RBI’s on the day.

LA begins preparations for an away game against St. Mark’s School this Wednesday at 3:45PM.
