Visual Arts
Creating
original art requires a basic understanding of the principles of
design, the development of creative skills, and the ability to
transform ideas and feelings into visual images.

 | At
Lawrence
Academy, our courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and
multimedia/video help students to discover and express what they think and
feel about the world while teaching them how to create meaningful works
of art. What we do in our classrooms is designed to encourage young
artists to find their own "voice"—a unique artistic and
intellectual identity—and to use this voice and their own
experience to create original art. From the beginning level in Drawing
to Honors Visual Art, each student is encouraged to develop the
technique necessary to communicate his or her ideas artistically.

Digital Photography goes national! Go to
www.mappingmainstreet.org, type in Groton, MA, and see photos taken by
the fall term Digital Photo Class. This is a National Public Radio
Project, and the goal of the site is to document all the main streets in
America. This was one of our many projects this trimester. Students’
names are in watermarks on their photos.
