Lawrence Academy

Welcome to LA Admissions

Dear Students and Families,

Phil BloodIt's a wonderful time to be here at LA! John Hancock signed the Academy’s charter in 1793, but, even as we honor that past, we look excitedly to the future. A new master plan, our media conferencing center project, and the continued use and expansion of innovative teaching methods—all focused on a student-centered experience—support our unique and comprehensive college preparatory curriculum.

LA’s programs, buoyed by a dynamic and dedicated faculty, begin with the Ninth Grade Program (NGP), in which students are exposed to skills-based education. Dovetailing with the NGP is the 10th-grade Combined Studies Course (CSC), which teams studies in English and history under an overarching theme of the individual and society in order to simultaneously develop abilities in both research and communication. A two-week Winterim provides our students with a yearly chance to expand their world view, both figuratively and literally, while our Independent Immersion Program (IIP) now includes independent work both at LA and at Stanford University. Artistically, we offer dynamic programs in dance, music, theatre, and the visual arts. Meanwhile, our athletic teams consistently take their place amongst the elite of the ISL.

Owing to our placement in north central Massachusetts—with all that it offers in both its rural setting and its close proximity to Boston—Groton is the perfect environment for living and learning. So, please take the time to peruse LAcademy.edu, attend our open house on November 1, read our view book, fill out our online inquiry form, and give us a call to set up a visit. We look forward to meeting you.
