Dear Alumni & Friends:
With summer in full swing and fall on the not-too-distant horizon, we are savoring our last days of summer rejuvenation and eagerly anticipating our students returning in September for Lawrence Academy’s 223rd year. Classes commence on Wednesday, September 9.
This summer has been a busy one with many campus projects underway [view our latest video]. Now officially “Field Turf,” Murbach Field is receiving finishing touches and will be ready for play this fall season. Be sure to mark your calendars for the re-dedication and opening on Saturday, September 26, before the field hockey game at 1:00 p.m. and the football game at 3:30 p.m.
In other campus project updates, the Carriage House (formerly LA 3 & 4), which was moved across campus last summer, has been transformed into a faculty home. The new Media Conference Center, which was built in the Carriage House’s former location, is complete and in use; new roofing has been put on the Ferguson Building, and Bigelow Hall, one of LA’s oldest dorms, has new finish on the walls and the furniture has been updated.
On campus, summer programs are abuzz, and the quad is as green and glowing as ever. I’ll be back in touch in September.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
From the hillside,
Assistant Head of School
BTW: Our Cape Cod gathering was a huge success and is sure to become a summertime staple for the many alumni, parents, and friends on the Cape. Check out our gallery on Facebook.
