Dear Alumni & Friends:

Summer started with Reunion 2015 – a huge success with close to 200 alumni back on campus. Friday night featured gatherings at Park House for the 50th reunion and Golden Alumni, with all other classes convening at Laura’s and my house at 14 Old Ayer Road. Saturday featured the annual Tom Warner 5K, remembrances at the Memorial Garden, our Alumni Awards Luncheon, a well-attended and inspiring presentation on today’s LA by Dan Scheibe and Bruce MacNeil, the second annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, and last but not least, the reunion gala under the tent on the Quad with an incredible Dixieland Band (organized by our own Joe Sheppard). Be sure to watch the highlights here.

And now we’re already well into June.

June, July, and August - those three magical words, for summers in independent schools are a time for us to refresh and renew. So, though we may reunite with old friends, sleep in, visit the beach or the mountains, we are also busy nourishing ourselves for next year. Our summer programs are in full swing and providing many faculty and current and former students opportunities to think and work in a different way through our wide variety of summer program offerings. Many of us not involved in summer programs are refreshing ourselves through professional development opportunities.

Four LA teachers are working toward their master’s degrees in English at Breadloaf at Middlebury College; another English teacher is studying at Columbia’s Klingenstein Institute, as is a French teacher; the math department continues to develop its mastery curriculum; our Ninth Grade Program teachers are updating their curriculum for 2015-16; four students and two faculty members are bound for Stanford University to experience IIP learning at the college level, and fellow Spanish teacher, Nate Cabot, and I head to the Dominican Republic tomorrow to hone our Spanish skills and teach English to college-aged students at a government-run environmental and forestry school called La Escuela Ambiental, with which LA has a partnership.

We were so glad to see so many of you in early June, and we look forward to hearing updates and other news from LA alumni. So please respond to this email with any family, personal, or professional information or simply fill out this form.

I’ll be back in touch in July. ¡Adios!

From the hillside,

Rob Moore
