From an elm tree shaded hillside...

Dear Alumni & Friends:

LA students and alumni love Mountain Day, a day of community, camaraderie, and cardiovascular challenge that leads to bonding experiences that brand themselves into the memories of every LA grad.

I have just found out that a new LA tradition is emergingeach year groups of LA students are taking pictures at the top of Mondadnock in the same spot, chronicling their climb up Monadnock and through their years at LA.

My heart melted on Monday evening, after this year’s climb, when I received this note with a collage of four photos attached from senior Lauren Kirk:

Hi Mr. Moore,
Hannah Davis, Brian Burns and I thought you'd enjoy this picture of us from freshman (top left) to sophomore (top right) to junior (bottom right) to senior year (bottom left) at the top of the mountain! Really shows the evolution..........

Mountain Day Collage

At the end of our second week of classes, I salute Mountain Day traditions new and old and everyone who has climbed over the years, strengthening our community and ourselves, getting a good workout, and taking in great views along the way.

I will be back in touch in October.

BTW: The first two weeks of class have been a success. Summer break is a distant memory, and the campus is abuzz with students who are thriving and living the LA mission of recognizing who they are and taking responsibility for who they want to become. You’ll be hearing a lot from me about how our mission is alive and well here on the hillside! I hope to see alumni and friends on campus soon for a performance or a game. Please keep an eye on the LA website and do let me know if you make it up the hillside.
