Greetings Alumni & Friends,
We're back in school. What flew by in our rearview was winter term, Winterim, and two weeks of vacation. We’ve made it to spring.
As it has been for over forty years, Winterim was life-changing for many and a fantastic change-of-pace for all. My own trip with sixteen students to the mountains of the Dominican Republic for a course called Coffee, Kids, & Community was spectacular. Our group came together well, and we all learned a ton about ourselves and another part of the world as we worked on a farm and with kids in a community up at around 3,000 feet. Through the years, Winterim just gets better and continues to teach us that the best learning is always in the doing.
Spring term classes are in full swing; sports are playing their first contests, and the spring one-acts have been cast and are already preparing for performances in May. Meanwhile, our seniors are hearing from colleges, while our admissions candidates have completed their re-visit days and are now notifying us of their decisions. We anticipate enrolling approximately 125 new students. Spring term always flies by, so we are hoping that our seniors forget to have a “senior spring!”
I know how much everyone loves the LA campus on a spring day –so many memories! –so I took a walk around to give you a glimpse of campus and the progress at Lawrence House. On the Quad, I caught up for a chat with soon-to-be-retired English teacher David Smith ’65 [CLICK FOR VIDEO]. Please send me any stories about David, and I will share them with him!
