Greetings Alumni & Friends,

New England weather is famous for its unpredictability – “if you don’t like it, wait a while.” The last few weeks have had their share of just such surprises here at LA. And I’m not talking about just the spring-like temperatures and rapid snow melt that brought the students out to the Ferguson and Gray Building steps two months early.

A last-minute twist caught our theater students off-guard when, due to copyright issues, they found out the afternoon of dress rehearsal that they could not perform their original interpretation of Godspell as prepared. So, our directors, actors, and technicians performed with scripts in hand, sharing the joys and responsibilities of recreating together. Our actors dug deep, showed their resilience, and the performances were electric! See a short taste of the play here...

In other last minute (or near last minute) twists, in a dramatic 3-2 win over St. Sebastian's in OT at Grant Rink, boys' hockey won the Independent School League! (Other ISL Championships were: 2012, 2009, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1995, 1989, 1976). See the game-winning goal and celebration...

Meanwhile, next door in the Stone Athletic Center, in a nail-biter win over Beaver Country Day, girls' basketball was celebrating Erin Antosh '17 scoring her 1,000th point for LA. Erin is only the fourth female at LA to make it to the 1000 Point Club –she joins LA Hall of Famer Kristie Laggis Pedroli ‘95, and recent-grads Emily Pratt ’15, and Gabrielle Reuter ’16. See the historic baskets here...

These two teams, along with girls' hockey and boys' basketball will be heading to post season with quarterfinal NEPSAC games on Wednesday. Do stop by if you are in the area! Full NEPSAC playoff information is up at LASpartans.com.

I’m happy to say, one thing remains WONDERFULLY predictable – Winterim. In a week, all students and faculty will be working in new and exciting ways on and off campus. I'm headed to the Dominican Republic with 16 students for a two-week service project in the mountains of Jarabacoa. I’ll be back in touch in April. Read the 2017 Winterim Catalog here.
