Dear Alumni & Friends:
It’s tempting to see the Quad as the center of our world at this time of year, especially with the final moments of our arts, academics, and athletics gravitating around our core. However, we are constantly reminding ourselves there’s a much bigger world out there, and not only do we belong to it, but our Media Conference Center (MCC) keeps us connected to it in a student-centered, hands-on way.
I had the pleasure of interviewing two longtime LA faculty members about our latest use of technology, Director of Technology Mark Burkholz, and History Department Chair Kevin Wiercinski. Since its inception, the MCC has been used to reach out to citizens of the world so that our students may see different perspectives while still being on the LA campus.
This year, classes have spoken with a UNICEF worker and a teacher at an Iraqi refugee camp, a history professor in Afghanistan, and people from Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Washington, DC. The list will continue to grow in the coming year. Check out the video here!
I’ll be back in touch in June.
From the hillside,
Robinson Moore
Assistant Head of School
